“If only I could plan for my own funeral seventy years down the road…” I joked.

Though it may be rather hectic, it is really satisfying when you see it goes really well and everyone is enjoying themselves. Nonetheless, today’s Miss Evelyn Song’s retirement part could not be possible without unconditional help from my friends especially Azirah and Shireen. They had both had assisted me in the planning of this party to make it a success.

Miss Song was caught surprise because she does not know of this party planned for her. To make it less obvious and make her worry, I narrated a story:

“Miss Song, I need you to go to the class now because someone had scribbled some profanities on the floor. Those profanities were aimed at Madam Chan and the extend of the vandalism was huge. The culprit had most likely used the paint in our class to scribble on the floor. I’d not reported the matter to the discipline master yet…”

When I saw that Miss Song was really deceived by my white lies, I suddenly realized my potential to excel in drama. Shireen, on the other hand, could not become an actress because she broke out smiling while I narrated the what-seems-like-real story.

“Actually, we would like to wish you a…” Miss Song, Shireen and I was already at the door.

“A HAPPY RETIREMENT!” The class shouted as we swung open the door.

Miss Song was really caught surprise and I all of us could see her watery eyes glistering under the white lights. Apparently, Kai Lee also cried because she was too touched for Miss Song or for whatever reasons. Shireen, Azirah and myself were relief when we saw that two huge plates of vermicelli meant for twenty students were quickly consumed. We took loads of photographs and I will soon have to sort it out and began sending it out to people.

I set up a challenge for the class. For those who are daring enough to swallow ten teaspoon of green chili, I will give away a 1.5 liter bottle of green tea. Finally, Kelly and Li Mei volunteered themselves and I was surprise that Li Mei could have actually ate the entire bowl of chili as her lunch.

Next we got people into bursting the balloons. In conclusion, the class did have an enjoyable time together. Once again, I wish Miss Evelyn Song a happy retirement and may she enjoy herself to the fullest possible extend.

Update:I had recieved a message a minute ago by Miss E. Song that says:

“Thanks once again for organising the party with Shireen and the class. I am truly touched by the wonderful guesture and warmth you all have shown me. I will miss everyone in 5N1 and will have wonderful memories of you all. I am eagerly looking forward to reading the books. You you all when term starts…”

I decided to post this message because I think I should share this message with my classmates – It is for everyone, not myself only. I would also like to thank the class for co-operating with me to make this part a success.
