Oasis said Sally knew it was too late. The train left.

Here comes goodbye.

Departure are always the hardest. Despite being only 81 days with Singapore Press Holdings, Finance Division, I couldn’t help but to be so disappointed I will not be returning Monday. The hardest part was to clear the table, and say goodbye.

From left to right: Aileen, Cairi Lim, Joey Lee, myself.

There are the accountants who are responsible for SPH subsidiaries accounts. I look a little moody because I was really tired by 6pm and I actually had LOADS of last minute things to settle. Aileen on the left, actually helped me fill up my Visa application form to China. I couldn’t write legible Chinese characters.

At my desk; myself, Joey and Cairi.

During the course of my internship, I sat next to Cairi, a bright person of a small stature who shared a surname with me. She was initially reserved to herself, but soon as I offered her more food and initiate more chats, she becomes very easy-going.

Joey, said opposite Cairi and I. Let me tell you, she is wickedly hilarious. She came the “information counter” soon after my arrival because she seem to know the exact location and schedule of many staffs. She a kind of person who is meant to bring laughter and joy to people’s life. Joey was one of the few people whom I knew had the power to make people hysterically happy, or suicidal.

In the Executive Vice President’s office, left to right; Khairudin, Kelvin, myself, Tony Mallek and Karen.

This was taken in Mr. Mallek’s office who is also the Chief Financial Officer. The rest of the “3 Ks” are actually my supervisors. Have I already said that they are extremely polite and accommodating to me? Khairuldin was the Division’s PC coordinator, Kelvin was the Assistant Manager for Singapore’s largest outdoor display company; SPH MediaBoxOffice, and finally, Karen was the Knowledge Officer.

I was given a testimony signed by Mr. Mallek, of which my supervisors said not all interns are issued with one. So I am particularly honored to receive it along with…

In the meeting room; Senior Vice President Wooi Cheng and myself.

… a encyclopedia as a token of appreciation. This picture makes me think I am going to be Prime Minister. This was taken after my final presentation and it was preceded by a two hour talk in the meeting room.

When they asked if I had anything to say, I was all, “Ahemm, Er, no. Thank you?”

They laughed.

Come on! Wooi Cheng was in the room and naturally I am a little uneasy even though he is a very nice person. I was pretty sure if Tony Mallek was in Wooi Cheng’s place, I would hyperventilate and collapse.

In the meeting room; Senior Vice President Wooi Cheng and NYP Liasion Officer Joanna Koh.

My lecturer had been a very nice person. And I really hope she will forget that she said to my supervisors, “Of course, I will have him present his work to the school’s Management.” I guess I will let her know that the pen she is holding in the picture has a retail price between $130 to $180.

I honestly had a wonderful time with SPH Finance and it is really my honor that my amateur expertise could benefit them. They really are polite and nice people, in contrary to how many people stereotypically thought of accountants.

Lastly, Oasis was right about my all-time favorite song. Sally can wait, but she will realized she’d be too late. The train left. Therefore, until paths are crossed again, I will think about those times and smile to myself. I thought it was wonderful.
